In the Machtesh Ramon Crater, one of the largest erosion craters on Earth, the Austrian Space Forum tested the technical and human challenges of future Mars missions.
The Earth's surface here has been exposed to weathering for 1.8 million years, making it one of the oldest dormant areas on our planet - and it bears a striking resemblance to the red planet.
